The Clark Cougars softball team earned a Bi-District Championship with a two game knockout over East Central. The Coogs took game two from the Hornets 7-3. The Cougar bats started and finished strong, with 3 runs scored in the 1st inning as the Cougars sent East Central’s starting pitcher to the showers early. Hornets errors and three Clark runs in the 6th inning sealed the victory.
Next up will be the winner of the New Braunfels/Roosevelt matchup. Way to go, ladies.

Congratulations to Clark Cougar junior Austin Wells who will be competing at the Texas state track meet after winning the Region IV 3200m race. Austin, a national AAU gold medalist, also competed earlier this season at state in cross country. Enjoy this video of his regional race (as the video begins, Austin is in 3rd place):
UPDATE: Shantel Swift places 2nd in Triple Jump. She. too, is going to the state meet. Congrats!
The only thing better than going undefeated in a season is beating your rival who has that chance. The Clark Cougars varsity baseball team accepted that role and played it well as they beat previously undefeated O’Connor 9-8 in the final game of the season.
Things didn’t look too good by the end of the 2nd inning, behind by 6. In the 3rd inning, however, Clark bats started heating up with three runs. Another hitting drought left Clark behind 8-3 after five innings. And that’s when things got interesting. The Cougars put two runs across the plate in the 6th and loaded the bases. John Henderson drove a triple to the fence tying the game 8-8. The final regular inning went scoreless. In the 8th inning, Chad Dullnig was hit by pitch and moved around the bases with steals from pass balls. With Dullnig on third, Hayden Brown ripped a single and scored Dullnig putting Clark up 9-8 as Cougar fielding and pitching took over to secure the win.
Clark ends the regular season in a tie for third place in District 27-5A, headed to the playoffs (TBA).
WAY TO FIGHT, COOGS!
The Junior girls sped past the Senior girls in the annual Powder Puff game this year, benefitting Project Graduation, three TDs to two. The Juniors took an early two touchdown lead, including a 55 yard sprint to the end zone from Sara Flournoy on the 2nd play of the game. The Seniors kept it close after a slow start but could not overcome the Junior’s speed.
Seniors had won the previous two years. And – let’s say it all together – the cheerleaders were still ugly.
The Clark Cougars varssity softball team scored five runs in the top of the 2nd inning and never looked back in their opening playoff win against East Central. The final score was Clark 8 – East Central 2. Henesey Soto got the win for the Cougars, including nine strikeouts. Two more runs in the 4th inning and another in the final inning added to the Cougars total.
Playing a best 2 out of three series, game two is Friday at noon at the NEISD softball complex located at Judson and Nacogdoches Roads (from Clark take Loop 1604, exit Judson Road, take a right on Judson and go approximately 3 miles).
WAY TO GO LADIES!
It’s the Clark senior girls vs the junior girls today at 5:00 on the Mike Robbins football field behind Clark. Your $5 admission benefits Project Graduation and you can bid on a variety of silent auction items, purchase concessions, watch some football and see how the boys handle being in a skirt cheering them on!
Then you can grab a bite to eat at EZ’s on DeZavala or Whataburger on I-10 with a portion of your purchase going toward Project Graduation.
It’s a Clark tradition – BE THERE!!!
