Evan Mills

Senior football player Evan Mills is the recipient of the 2011 Clark Texas Football Club Scholarship. Mills, an offensive lineman for the Cougars, will be attending Texas State University in San Marcos. The $3000 scholarship is awarded each spring to a deserving student chosen by the alumni group.

The Clark Texas Football Club is a group of former Cougar football players who continue to support the football program in a variety of ways. Most of the scholarship money is raised through their end of summer golf tournament.

Clark grad Carl O’Neal has become a real pitching asset for St. Mary’s baseball. He and the Rattlers have their sights set on the NCAA Div II Championships. Read more in the Express News.

Jason Brickman

Looking familiar in black and white, 2010 Clark grad Jason Brickman led his Long Island University Blackbirds into the NCAA  Basketball Tournament on Wednesday night. Brickman, a freshman point guard, had 15 points including two critical free throws in the final seconds of overtime. Read about the game, seen on ESPN2, here.

Clark alum making waves

2010 Clark graduate Jason Brickman earned Rookie of the Week honors as a freshman basketball player for Long Island University.  Last year’s district Offensive MVP, Brickman is making an impression not only on his team but with opposing coaches as well.  You can read about his success in this article.

Mery ('09) steps up

2008 Clark Cougar varsity football player Stephen Mery is a hero after he and a group of friends helped rescue a real estate agent who was being robbed.  This Express News article describes how Mery and friends recognized things were not right when they pulled up next to the car with the woman and her assailant.

Stephen is currently a student at Texas A&M University.

Anna Drewry

Congratulations to Clark volleyball alum Anna Drewry who helped her Purdue team in two big wins last week. She received a “Postcard Home” from  the Express News this week. NCAA tournament begins for the Boilermakers on Friday.

Jonathan Brydon '06

Clark Cougar graduate Jonathan Brydon has represented Clark and himself well while playing football at Texas Tech.  The three-sport star at Clark is finishing his season as a member of the Red Raiders and you can read more about him in this article.

Coaches McGhee, Alexander and Robbins

Former students, players, parents, coaches and friends gathered together for a night of memories and thanks to honor Athletic Coordinator and Head Coach Lloyd Alexander at a casual retirement party organized by the Clark Athletic Booster Club.

Several former players, including the Clark Texas Football Club, were able to give thanks and share memories of the coach who began his career at Clark the first day the doors opened.

Dressed in a Hawaiian shirt, Coach A thanked those in attendance and spoke briefly to the crowd about his appreciation for the Clark community and especially the expectation by Clark athletes and fans to win, which, he said, made his job easier.

The highlight of the evening was an announcement by Jeff Schorr, the Clark Texas Football Club founder, that their annual scholarship (this year – $3000) would from here on out be named the Lloyd Alexander scholarship.  This year’s recepient will be named in a few days.

The Clark Texas Football Club is an organization of former Clark coaches and players.
