Tennis: On to Region

The weather held so the Clark varsity tennis players were able to play their final district matches. Advancing to Region are Zach Frisbie (1st place boys singles), Ricky Keh (2nd place boys singles), Hannah Rafferty (1st place girls singles), and Chris Todd and Johnny Reichman (2nd place boys doubles). Earning third place spots were Martha Dill and Molly Kiehne (girls doubles) and Sergio Martinez and Arantza Gonzales (mixed doubles).

Tennis Girls Advance

Junior Hannah Rafferty will advance to semis in girls singles and juniors Molly Kiehne and Martha Dill will advance in girls doubles in the NISD tourney, which will be held tomorrow at ATC, weather permitting.

District Tennis Day One

Today was the first day of district tournament play for Cougar varsity tennis. Boys and mixed doubles played at Annemarie Tennis Center. Advancing to the semifinal round were Ricky Keh and Zach Frisbie in singles, Chris Todd and Johnny Reichman in doubles, and Sergio Martinez and Arantza Gonzalez in mixed. They will play again Saturday at ATC.

 

Girls will play tomorrow, weather permitting, also at ATC.

JV Tennis Girls Rock

At the Dominion Tournament over the weekend, freshman Meredith Schiele took second in girls singles, while the girls doubles team of Syvoney Ybarra and Kimia Motevasell took first. Claire Lowrie was the winner of the girls singles  consolation draw

Individual Season Kicks Off in Tennis

Senior Ricky Keh won the boys singles draw at the NEISD tournament over this past weekend. He also took the sportsmanship award. Fellow Coog Zach Frisbe came in fifth in boys singles, after a quarters loss and then two wins. The boys doubles duo of Johnny Reichman and Chris Todd also came in fifth following a similar path.

On to Day Two

After defeating Laredo Alexander and then losing to perennial powerhouse New Braunfels, Clark tennis made it to the elusive second day of play to meet up with Harlingen South to battle for third place. The Coogs play tomorrow at 9:30 am at the Northside Tennis Center, next to O’Connor.

Area Champions

A new streak continues! Clark tennis handily defeated Health Careers to pick up a second Area Tournament win. Now it is on to Region, which will be played here in San Antonio this year.

Advancing to Area Finals

Tennis defeated Southwest in the morning and Marshall in the afternoon to advance to the final round of the second ever Area Tennis Tournament.
