Neither team scored in the 4th inning, but when Clark came up to bat in the 5th, Ed Moore hit a double to deep center field and scored on a sacrifice fly by Hunter McFall, and the inning ended with the score Clark 2, O’Connor 1.

In the 7th inning, Devin Haley drew a walk, was advanced to 2nd on a sacrifice by Robert Martin and scored when Ryan Skowronski hit a single. Clark went into the bottom of the 7th inning with the lead, 3-1. O’Connor responded with two home runs to even the score and send the game to extra innings.

The 8th inning began with a walk by Hunter McFall, followed by a double to deep center right by Braden Mattson that scored McFall from first. Mattson came home on Matt Cohen’s sacrifice fly to deep right field, which gave the Cougars a 2 run lead. In the bottom of the 8th inning, the Cougars got 3 quick outs to win the game. On the mound for the Cougars was Trevor Settles who pitched 6 innings and Matt Cohen came in for relief in the 7th and 8th inning and got the win.

The stands were full of Cougar baseball fans – both old and new – who got to see a really good game between two very good teams! Congratulations to Clark Baseball for a GREAT win and 1st place in District! Next up for the Cougars is Taft, next Tuesday March 29th at 4:45 on NS # 2. Come out to make some noise!
