by on Mar.04, 2011, under Baseball

The Clark Cougars beat the Highlands Owls 10-0 in 5 innings of play in Friday action at the NEISD tournament.  On the mound for the Cougars was junior Pete Sanchez who pitched all 5 innings, allowing 2 hits and no runs.  Once again the Cougar bats roared, with 9 hits in the game.  Clark defense made key outs for the win.

In the evening game, the Cougars matched up against the Churchill Chargers, and were victorious with a 4-2 win.  In a pitcher’s duel, Ryan Skowronski (Sr) got the win, with 5 & 2/3 innings pitched, recording 5 strike outs, 4 hits and only 2 runs.  It was a tightly contested game as both teams battled throughout the seven innings of play.  At the end, a timely hit by Robert Martin (Jr) scored Manny Menezes (Jr), pinch running for Matt Cohen, which helped to secure the lead.  Matt Cohen took the mound for the final 1 1/3 inning – saving the win for the Cougars.

The Cougars will face Taft Saturday morning at 9am at Blossom Athletic Center.  Go Coogs!
