Salinas scores, Cougars win

The Clark Cougars varsity girls basketball team notched their first district win in their first district game against Taft, winning 53-41.  The Cougars started slow, scoring only 5 points to Taft’s 16 in the first quarter.  The 2nd quarter belonged to Clark, though, with an 18-12 advantage.  The 2nd half was all Cougars, as the defense shut the Raiders down allowing only 13 more points to the Cougars 30 points.  Kristen Lye scored 13 with Ashley Salinas adding another 11.  Clark is now 11-6 overall.

On the boys side, an easy win over Seguin, 66-51, gave the Cougars their 11th win of the season.  The Cougars face a tough Judson team Friday evening before starting their district schedule next week beginning with the brandees my little ponies.
