Congratulations to Clark volleyball alum Anna Drewry who helped her Purdue team in two big wins last week. She received a “Postcard Home” from  the Express News this week. NCAA tournament begins for the Boilermakers on Friday.

DREWRY IS FABULOUS

Congratulations to Clark senior vollyballer Ann Drewry. She was named to the Sports Imports/Volleyball magazine “Fab 50” team. She will be featured in the April issue of the publication. Anna currently is on the varsity Track & Field team. Following graduation, Anna is headed to Purdue to play for the Boilermakers.

Clark Cougar Track at Mule Relays

At the Mule Relays at Alamo Heights the men’s and ladies track teams had great results.  The men’s team took 1st place, including setting a new meet record in the 800 relay by sprinters Ryan Flournoy, Ryan Jones, Joe Nichols and Joe Vasquez.  The ladies team took 2nd place overall, with outstanding performances by Shaneve Swift, Glynnis Meade and the girls 1600m relay team (Luisa Garza, Shaneve Swift, Shantel Swift and Jasmine Robertson). CLARK FOOTBALL SIGNEES HEAD WEST

C. Smith, J. Tilghman sign with parents

Two seniors from the 2009 state semifinalists Clark Cougar football team will keep playing in college.  Jock Tilghman, the Texas Football 5A player of the Year, signed a National Letter of Intent to play for West Texas A&M in Canyon.  The leading rusher in 5A football this year, Jock plans to major in History.  His mother is  Bridgette Tilghman.  According to a press release from West Texas A&M, Coach Don Carthel is elated with this year’s class,  “Our incoming running backs may be the best we’ve seen. The running back position may just be the strongest position in this class”.

Cory Smith, a senior offensive lineman, also signed a National Letter of Intent.  He’ll be heading to Angelo State University.  Cory was a 1st team All District selection on this year’s team. The son of Victor and Kelly Smith, Cory plans to major in Physical Therapy.

The Head Coach of the Clark Cougars is Lloyd Alexander.

During the early signing period in the fall, senior Anna Drewry signed with Purdue to play volleyball.   A first-team all-district selection as a junior under coach Kristen Daniells, Drewry also is a three-year honor roll member and threw shot put and discus for the Clark track team the last two years. She plans on majoring in biology and animal sciences.

Jordan Brickman, signed to play basketball for Navy.  Kevin Hamilton is the head basketball coach for Clark.

Congratulations to the parents and their Clark athletes and good luck.
