Setting a new district course meet record (15:19) was another highlight for Austin Wells, Clark’s most successful cross country runner. The senior has verbally committed to run at the next level for Texas A&M University. It was a tough choice for the runner who grew up in a University of Texas household. At this past weekend’s NEISD Cross Country meet, Austin Wells once again flew past the competition to a first place finish with a time of 15:40. The next fastest time for a varsity boy was almost a minute later and it was almost a minute and a half later for another NISD athlete to cross the finish line. Congratulations to Austin, who now has two 1st place wins in the past two meets. Clark boys finished 6th at the meet and the girls finished 9th.
Congratulations are in order for Austin Wells, a Clark Cougar cross-country and track standout, who made the txrunning.com All State Pre-season team. The senior, who owns AAU gold and just missed medaling at the state meet last season, will be one of the favorites from the South Texas area.
Congratulations to Clark Cougar junior Austin Wells who will be competing at the Texas state track meet after winning the Region IV 3200m race. On the first day of the 27-5A Track and Field district meet, Cougars stood on the winner’s platform often on their way to district awards and regional appearances. Shantel Swift took gold in the Triple Jump with a distance of 37-6.5 feet. Sean Campell wore silver in the Shot Put with a distance of 46-6.25 with Stuart Cram taking bronze at 45-9. Nathan Barrientez threw the discus 142-6.75 feet to win the event.
Austin Wells continued his winning ways with a first place in the 3200m race with a time of 9:27:13

It was a great Saturday for Clark track at Mata Stadium as they finished first out of 14 teams in the Edgewood Relays. Among the top finishers of the day were William Young who placed first in the Triple Jump, Malcolm Eatman who finished first in the 100 meter, Austin Wells finished first in the 3200 meter and second in the 1600 meter, Ben Deschner was first in the 400 meter and Presley Miller came in first in the 110 hurdles. The Clark relay teams finished first in both the 400 meter and 800 meter races. Brandon Yates took second place in the 200 meter and Ryan Pavlich finished third in the 800 meter. More..
Several Clark Cougars were recognized for their outstanding play during the fall sports season. Topping the list is cross country junior runner Austin Wells who was named to the Express News Super Team for Cross Country as well as the Area Team.
From Clark volleyball the 27-5A All district 1st team includes Jenn Garrett and Marcella Arellano. Named to the 2nd team is Abigail Glosup and Nicole Rehm.
27-5A 1st team offense football honors went to Manny Menezes. 2nd team offense honors to Kweku Larbie, Brandon Yates, Blake DeHart and Alex Hunter. The 2nd team defense includes Logan Hanna, Tri-Rice Van Buren and Malcolm Eatman.
Congratulations to Cross Country junior runner Austin Wells. Representing Clark at the Region IV meet, he placed 3rd. As a result, he will advance to the state meet to be held next week in Round Rock.

The Clark Cougar varsity Cross Country competed in the 27-5A district meet. Shantel Swift finished 7th for the girls, and Austin Wells finished 2nd for the boys. They will advance to the Regional meet to be held next Saturday at the National Shooting Complex near Taft High School.
