by on Jan.20, 2010, under Soccer

Roger Trevino

Trevino sends it for goal

Goalies and defense made statements in both the girls’ and boys’ varsity soccer games against the Stevens Falcons at the NISD soccer fields.

The boys took a half to get warmed up but once the second half started, the Clark Cougars got three quick goals to blank the Falcons 3-0.  Zach Guevara begin the scoring in the 66th minute with a shot to the goal.  Three minutes later, Jair Rodriguez took advantage of another Stevens defensive breakdown to make it 2-0.  In the 79th minute, Johnny Lawson completed the trifecta with a shot to give the Cougars the 3-0 district win.

Gabrielle Santorio

Santorio scores against Stevens

The girls didn’t wait near as long in their whipping of Stevens.  Goals were scored early and often, with Clark taking a 4-0 lead at halftime. Gabrielle Santorio, Macy Ellis, Alyssa Bloom, Toria Siefert, Francis Moore, Krysta Maples and Andrea Romero each accounted for a nail in the Stevens’ coffin.  It was the first district win for the Cougars after a tie in their district opener.
